In response to a request from our membership, the BCFTOA and the FCABC have completed work on an "Essential Benchmarks" document for the fire service in British Columbia. The purpose of this project was to identify those communications that must be captured on an incident, as well as, to ensure a consistent definition of these terms. It is our hope that these benchmarks will be adopted by the fire service and training academies in the province to ensure that all new training includes this standard.

Each year the BCFTOA awards one or more $500 Bursary's to the son/daughter of an active member of a participating department to support post secondary academic goals.
The BCFTOA Bursary was first awarded in 2003 and was renamed the Dean Larivee Memorial Bursary in honour of Dean’s dedication and many contributions to the BCFTOA, fire service training and the fire service in general.
